  • We collect only what is needed to provide the software service and your documents.
  • We never sell or trade your data.
  • We share your information with a law firm (such as FreedomCounsel) only if you choose to engage one, and only with your consent.
  • Information you share with LawBits is not protected by attorney-client privilege.
  • We comply with all major U.S. privacy laws.
  • We protect your data with commercially reasonable safeguards.

1. Purpose of this Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how LawBits, LLC ("LawBits") collects, uses, shares, and protects information in connection with our website, software platform, forms, and customer support. FreedomCounsel Legal, LLC ("FreedomCounsel") is a separate law firm with its own privacy practices; this policy does not cover information you provide to FreedomCounsel or any other attorney you separately engage.

2. Who We Are and What We Do

LawBits is a software platform that generates state-specific estate planning documents from templates designed by licensed attorneys. LawBits is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. FreedomCounsel is a separate, independent law firm and a separate business. If you choose to consult FreedomCounsel or another attorney, you do so under a separate agreement, and that firm handles your information under its own privacy practices.

Because LawBits is not a law firm, information you share with LawBits is not protected by attorney-client privilege. If you engage FreedomCounsel or another attorney, your communications with that firm during the engagement are protected by attorney-client privilege under that separate relationship.

3. Information We Collect

Information you provide: Name, email, address, phone number, payment details, form responses, uploaded documents, preferences, and any messages you send to us.

Information collected automatically: IP address, browser type, device ID, pages visited, usage logs, cookies, and analytics data.

4. How We Use Your Information

We do not use your personal data for unrelated advertising or resale.

5. How We Share Information

Service providers: We work with trusted vendors for technology, payment, hosting, and customer support. These providers are contractually required to protect your data and may not sell or reuse it.

Law firms, only with your consent: LawBits does not share your information with FreedomCounsel or any other law firm as part of the software service. If you choose to engage a firm (such as FreedomCounsel) for a consultation or referral, we share only the information needed for that purpose, and only with your explicit consent at the time you choose to engage. Information you then provide to that firm is governed by the firm's own privacy practices and engagement agreement.

Legal reasons: We may disclose information only when legally compelled through valid legal process. We do not voluntarily provide user information to government agencies.

We do not sell personal information.

6. Cookies

We use cookies to make the site function properly, analyze usage, and improve user experience. You can adjust cookie preferences through your browser settings.

7. Security and Retention

We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal data. We retain personal data only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described here or as required by law.

8. Children's Privacy

Our Services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. Contact legal@lawbits.co if you believe a minor has provided information to us.

9. Your Privacy Rights

You may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. To exercise your rights, email legal@lawbits.co with "Privacy Rights Request" in the subject line. We will respond within 45 days.

California residents: We do not sell or share personal information under the CCPA/CPRA.
